TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa
Lhasa Train station/airport picking up, You are warmly welcome to Tibet by saying Tashi Delek at the Train station/airport by your tour guide and an experienced driver and send you back to your well reserved hotel. Then have a good rest to acclimatize the high altitude in the afternoon.

Day 2: Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace /Jokhang Temple/Barkhor street

Morning section to visit the famous Potala palace and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, figures of the Buddha. Made of precious metal. Afternoon section visiting to the holist temple in Tibet, the Johkang Temple, built during songtsen gonpo’s reign by princess wencheng of tang dynasty, 647 A.D. The inner circuit is also situated inside the temple and is lined with prayer-wheel and murals outlined in gold on red background, which depict the thousand buddhas, interspersed with stupas and relief-images. Johkang is circuit. The circular pilgrim route around Jokhang temple is called Barkhor and later flourished, forming the embryo of the city. The barkhor market itself is the most active in all Tibet, and it is possible to purchase traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instrument, Thangkas, and tradition tibetan clothes etc.

Day 3: Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery/Sera Monastery (B)

Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home of 10000 monks and Ganden podrang in Drepung is famous it was the government centre during fifth dalai lama and later moved to the famous potala palace during fifth dalai lama.then you will visit the Carpet Factory, you can see how the world-famous Tibetan carpets are made. After having lunch, continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa’s disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive is that Monks debating is held there in the courtyard at around 6-7:30 in the afternoon section most of the time.

Day 4: Lhasa-Ganden Monastery-Dezong Nunnery

Leave Lhasa to Ganden Monastery in the morning(60km), Afternoon drive to Dezong Hotel Spring, it has a great location in a narrow gorge at the confluence of two streams. You can also have the famous medicinal hot-springs there – Dezong Hot Spring and Dezong Nunnery.

Day 5: Tidrum Til Moanstery-Reting Monastery

Early drive to Drigung Til which sprouts from a high, steep ridge overlooking the Drigung Valley. Drigung Til is the head monastery of the Drigungpa school of the Kagyupa order, right now there are about 270 monks living in. Up to the hill of Drigung Til, there is one the holiest sky-burial site in Lhasa region, Please note that watching Sky-burial ceremony is forbidden if you have not get permission of the death’s family. Then we drive to Reting Monastery through the Changthang plains. Though Rating is just a small monastery, it is an important Gelukpa monastery in Central Tibet, situated in a sprawling juniper clad hill.

Day 6: Reting-Namtso Lake

Today, we continue to drive to Namtso Lake, During the summer months Namtso is dotted with nomad herders and their yaks and tents. Namtso Lake is the Heavenly lake which is one of the three holy lakes of Tibet and also the highest salt lake. You can do a very relax trekking around the lake side and Tashi Island. To spend a night at lake shore is fantastic, the night sky is so clean that you could see all the stars twinkling on the sky, so close to you as if you could stretch you hands to pick the stars. Namtso lake is actually the lake in the sky, it is about 5000m high lies on the highest plateau in the world.

Day 7: Namtso/Yangpachen hotspring/Lhasa

Enjoy the clear morning at the lake shore, you can trek along the lake shore to Tashi Dor Island to explore the meditation caves. drive to Dumxung to have lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit Yangpachen hot spring on the way back to Lhasa. Yangpachen is an ‘electricity town’ built around a thermal power plant 87 kilometers ( 54 miles) north of Lhasa, halfway to Damxung. The altitude is 4,300 meters (14,100 feet). Yangpachen borders on a flat area of hot springs covering 16 square kilometers ( six square miles). Steam and geysers can be seen rising from the plain. It is famous for its richness in terrestrial heat. Yangpachen owns not only common hot springs and fountains, but also various geysers, boiling springs, and hot-water lakes, which is rare in the world. Now it has a thermoelectricity plant, green houses, and hot spring baths, attracting more and more tourists.

Day 8: Leave Lhasa by train or by air
A private vehicle will transfer you from Hotel to airport or train station. The pick up time will be arranged by the tour guide at Day 7
